Description

The Flamming Skull Nebula (Sh2-82) is a planetary nebula located in the Serpent's tail. It is very old, at least 45,000 years old. Planetary nebulae results from the expansion of gas from dying medium-sized stars. When they are young, if they are in an environment rich in dust and gas, the pressure of the expelled gases is greater than that of the environment, maintaining a spherical shape. However, when aging occurs  the surrounding gas slows down the expansion. As the original star moves, the shape of the nebula will change depending on  the composition of its environment . The white dwarf at the center of Sh2-68 moves rapidly in a cloud of gas in our Milky Way. The shifting front is located at the top right in the photograph, giving rise to the reddish cloud, and stripes in this direction are also visible in the central bluish oxygen III cloud. The nebula is very faint, so in addition to spending a lot of time on its capture, I took the shots in bin x2 ,and stacked it with drizzle.  I have verified that although the resolution is high, if you have a lot of images, the drizzle improves the SNR and detail. At the moment I'm only using bin X2 + drizzle on weak objects.
